Nov. 7th-Dec. - 24 ONTARIO CALIF. THE ADVETURE BEGINS DEC. 28th. !!! The first blast of the ship's horn rattled the festive garland on the deck railing. For Santa, it was the sweetest sound in the world. I stood on the balcony OF my stateroom, a steaming mug of cocoa warming my hands, and watching the docks of Fort Lauderdale, FI., vanish into the distance. The name on the itinerary read "Santa Sleighs Travels," But just a man with a wild white beard, a penchant for red sweaters, and a deep-seated need for a break. For 60 days, I will be trading my sleigh for a ship, the snow for sea spray, and the frantic chaos of the workshop for the serene rhythm of the wave. My itinerary meticulously planned escape from the North Pole's year-round holiday hustle, was child-free specific request. This was my time to be selfish, read a book cover to cover without interruption, to sleep past dawn, and to enjoy a sunset without a list of "nice" and "naughty" running through my head.
The scent of salt filled the air, a welcome change from the ever-present aroma of gingerbread and pine. The Caribbean and the Bahamas beckoned, relaxation, a shimmering turquoise promise of sun-drenched relaxation. Me smiling, a genuine, unburdened smile that reached my eyes. This was my adventure, a secret little Holdiay just for me, and it was finally going to begin. See what happens on Santa's next adventure!
